Watch out for potential callers

Greater Grays Harbor, Inc. has become aware that some individual or organization is calling members on the pretext of asking for their opinions for a survey our organization has commissioned.

We have commissioned no such survey.

We learned of this phone scam from two of our board members who were contacted in this manner. At first, one of the board members said, it sounded completely legitimate, with questions about business climate. It turned into a probe of her attitudes about the environment, and began to discomfit her. She said she was on the phone for quite a while before it became apparent to her that this was not a legitimate phone call.

It is not uncommon for local people or businesses to get scammy phone calls from individuals purporting to be from "the Aberdeen Chamber" or even "the Grays Harbor Chamber," but generally they don't sound legitimate.

If you or any of your employees have received such a phone call, please let us know! Reply to this email or call 532-1924. In fact, if you ever receive a phone call purporting to be from us that makes your antennae wiggle, give us a call and check with us!

We are working with the appropriate agencies to find out the source of these phone calls.
