Lola Co. LLC is a vibrant houseplant and gift shop (mostly houseplants) nestled in the heart of downtown Montesano, WA. Housed within the historic Vidette Building—just a block from Main Street—their space blends rich history with lush greenery, creating an inclusive, welcoming atmosphere for plant lovers from beginners to seasoned experts.
The Vidette Building is the oldest commercial building in Montesano and the former home of the Vidette newspaper. The shop embraces its rich history, repurposing items like the old breakroom table and shelves to beautifully showcase plants and pots, blending past and present in a space that feels both familiar and inspiring. Beyond curating an impressive rotating selection of tropical houseplants, the owner happily takes requests, sourcing specialty and wishlist plants to ensure customers find exactly what they’re looking for. Whether it’s a rare collector’s gem or a sentimental favorite, Lola Co. is dedicated to making plant dreams a reality.
Lola Co. was founded by a lifelong plant enthusiast whose journey began in the Midwest, where they grew up surrounded by farmland and learned the art of gardening from their father, a master gardener. After spending 30 years in apartment maintenance in Seattle—working their way up from groundskeeper to regional maintenance supervisor, with experience in recruiting and training—they moved to Montesano in 2024 and purchased the historic Vidette Building. With a deep love for the area, people, and the community spirit, they wanted to create something that not only added value but also nurtured a sense of connection and well being.
Lola Co. is named after the owner’s faithful companion of 11 years, a 13-year-old border collie named Lola, who is known to make appearances in the shop and greet guests. The expertise gained from years of property maintenance now plays a key role in preserving Montesano’s oldest commercial building and developing thoughtful care systems for the diverse plant collection within the shop. Lola Co. specializes in tropical houseplants, filling a much-needed gap in the local market. The benefits of plant care go far beyond aesthetics—it promotes mindfulness, creativity, and overall well-being. Science has shown that putting our hands in dirt improves mental health, while the joy of witnessing a new leaf or bloom fosters a sense of wonder.
The shop’s mission is to provide a welcoming space where people can step away from daily stresses and immerse themselves in all the goodness that plants bring. From cactus and succulent lovers to rare aroid collectors, Lola Co. curates an exceptional selection at a variety of price points. But beyond just selling plants, the goal is to cultivate a thriving community—a hub where plant enthusiasts can come together, share knowledge, and support each other in their plant journeys.
