Greater Grays Harbor, Inc. is Excited to Officially Welcome and Introduce New Member, Solid Coffee!
Solid Coffee is located at 1941 Riverside Ave in Hoquiam, in the old Vasa Hall building. Solid sells classic and specialty espresso beverages as well as smoothies, spritzers, teas and lemonades. They also bake their own pastries and have light breakfast and lunch options such as breakfast sandwiches, waffles, oatmeal, bagels and a selection of savory paninis.
Darick and Ula, the owners, are both artists and designers under their company Last West Designs, and their artwork decorates the walls of Solid Coffee. Their custom branding is their own. The name Solid Coffee and the logo, references Solidarity, the Polish independence movement that Ula’s father was part of. Vasa Hall, where Solid is located, is a historical building that had different iterations throughout the years and is currently undergoing a renaissance. Today, besides Solid, Vasa also houses The Red Cedar bar, Little Switch Yoga studio, Honey Wine Self Care massage studio and the Maija Nordin dance studio. Sometimes Solid Coffee hosts special events and musical performances and plans on doing more in the future to showcase local talent. Their specialty drinks are made with house made syrups and sauces, and their menu sports a wide range of pastries that are made in house from scratch.
Ula explains, “we lived in Seattle for a long time where we owned a coffee shop located right by the Space Needle. After we had kids, we dreamed of owning a home and living in a smaller community that would be better for a family. We decided on Grays Harbor because it still had a reasonable commute to Seattle, where we lived part time for 3 years, plus it had a very good housing market. In search of a place to open a new coffee shop, we met the owners and restorers of Vasa Hall, Jessie and Tino, really hit it off with them, and thought it would be an ideal place to open a new shop. In September we celebrated our one-year anniversary and have lots more planned for 2025.”
Plan a visit to Solid Coffee on October 24th as the GGHI Ambassadors visit the shop for their One-Year Anniversary Ribbon Cutting! The ribbon will be cut at 4:30pm followed by delicious taste testers of their pastries. Hang out until 6:30pm for a special performance by the Aberdeen High School Goldenaires!
