After a six-year hiatus, Greater Grays Harbor, Inc. (GGHI), is proud to announce the return of Showcase Grays Harbor. Set to tour the South Beach area, this day-long event will take place on Friday, September 15, 2023.
First launched in 2000, Showcase Grays Harbor was created to offer residents a behind-the-scenes look at various businesses and sites throughout the County that are otherwise inaccessible to community members. On this year’s Showcase, participants begin by boarding Grays Harbor Transit buses at Grays Harbor College before driving to the coast to tour South Beach.
To create an all encompassing tour of the area, GGHI has worked alongside industry leaders in the South Beach to map out a one-of-a-kind visit to the area. Participants will receive a private tour of U.S. Coast Guard Station Grays Harbor and witness exclusive demonstrations by the stationed crew, take part in the South Beach Historical Society’s Walk and Talks to learn the vibrant history and heritage of the area, explore two seafood processing facilities that make up Ocean Companies, and tour the Westport Marina with insider knowledge from the Port of Grays Harbor.
Also included in this year’s Showcase are samplings of locally caught seafood, provided by WEfish and Westport’s Fresh Catch, during which there will be presentations on the commercial fishing culture and industry. Additionally, lunch is included in the registration fee and will be catered by Aloha Alabama at the Westport VFW while various local presenters take the stage.
“The GGHI Staff, Board, and Showcase Committee, made up of local business leaders, are thrilled to bring this event back to the Harbor,” stated Lynnette Buffington, GGHI CEO. “This is truly an event unlike any other providing an unparalleled view into some of the most important industries in the region. We look forward to highlighting South Beach this year and are working to put together a fantastic lineup of site visits.”
