May 2019 – Greater Grays Harbor, Inc. is thrilled to be welcoming new member, Juniper Tree, to the organization!
Tucked away in one of Cosmopolis’s historical 100+-year-old building is a newly opened clothing boutique. A side door of the expansive building leads to the small but lively shop. Upon entering, the well-coordinated design and colors meet visitors’ eyes. Clothing with thoughtful designs for women graces the walls. You will find newborn items, candles, jewelry, and other accessories.
Normally, a clothing boutique is specifically for selling clothes. However, owner, Chelsea Royer of Juniper Tree Photography and Boutique has another vision for the store. Chelsea says the following, “Juniper Tree is stocked full of clothing and accessories, chosen with photography sessions in mind. Every item is carefully considered for quality, color, and photographability. My goal is for every shopper to leave feeling like they are professionally styled and/or ready to rock their photo session.”
Chelsea has had a long-time love for design. For as long as she can remember, she has been attempting to create beautiful things. Coordinating outfits for customers, decorating her store and setting up a photo session in the perfect light are all a part of the labor of art and joy for her. It is true. The clothing Chelsea has hand curated for her boutique is eye candy. Chelsea has chosen clothing pieces that will complement the photography. They are also pieces that are unique and fun to wear. You are likely not to find something similar in the Harbor.
Juniper Tree Photography and Boutique is Chelsea’s first time opening brick and mortar shop. Though always challenging to start a new business venture, Chelsea was sure it was the direction she wanted for her hybrid clothing and photography business. However, Chelsea had guidance with understanding the financial investment and business process. She says, “I am a stereotypical creative when it comes to numbers. I have always struggled when it comes to spreadsheets and tracking profit and loss. Mia Johnstone at the Small Business Development Center in Aberdeen has been so valuable in helping me see where I need to adjust pricing and expectations and also revealing how I can grow.” Even more, Chelsea says that business advising has built her confidence as she expands her business.
Chelsea’s Juniper Tree Photography and Boutique is an exciting addition to the Harbor. Seeing locals turn their creativity into services for the public is a sign of growth and revitalization. For more information about Juniper Tree, visit their website, Facebook, or Instagram.
