Greater Grays Harbor, Inc. (GGHI) is excited to officially welcome new member, The McCleary Historical Society to our organization!
“The McCleary Historical Society owns and operates the McCleary Museum and Event Center at the corner of Second and Oak Street in McCleary. We are a nonprofit that provides the repository for McCleary history and artifacts with displays, a library and archive. We also offer varied concerts and lecture series to the public along with providing space for weddings, memorial services and meetings.
When looking into the Museum, the largest piece in our collection is the church building itself, which was commissioned by Henry McCleary and dedicated to his wife. The rest of our collection is housed in this building, providing a bright, clean, well-managed environment to study the history of the town and surrounding area. The museum is staffed by volunteers eager to share that history.
The McCleary Historical Society is managed by a nine member board whose mission is to serve as the collective historical memory of the City of McCleary and to serve the community as a cultural center. The museum’s current location was purchased in 2019.
For those looking to visit, the Museum is open for in-person visits Saturdays and Sundays from noon-4pm. The Event Center is open for special events throughout the year. For updated information on the current events calendar and news, visit the museum website.”
