Hello Members,

I hope you have had a great summer so far and have had a chance to enjoy the beautiful outdoors we have here in Grays Harbor. The Grays Harbor County Fair was a great success and enjoyed by record attendance. Fall is right around the corner, and schools are getting ready to open within a few short weeks. With that said, it is a busy time here at Greater Grays Harbor, Inc.

Upcoming Events

We are hosting our GGHI Member Appreciation BBQ on Thursday, August 15th from 11:00 AM – 1:30 PM here at our office at 506 Duffy Street in Aberdeen. The Cosmopolis Lions Club will be grilling burgers and hotdogs for all to enjoy. As always, this event if free for all members of our organization. We hope you’ll join us!

The GGHI staff are working extremely hard on getting the final preparations made for this year’s return of the Showcase Grays Harbor on September 13th from 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM. We have an exciting tour planned to feature marine terminal tours at the Port of Grays Harbor as well as demonstrations from the Hoquiam Fire Department and Life Flight Network. We will also tour the newest building recently completed at Grays Harbor College, as well as the Westport Winery. Sponsorships for this sell-out event are still available at various levels. Learn more about this annual event and purchase your ticket on the official event page.

Other Happenings

We have been really busy at Greater Grays Harbor Inc., with the kickoff of our Federal EDA Funded Re-Compete Grant where we will be working with Grays Harbor College, Pacific County EDC, and Pacific Mountain Workforce Development Council to develop a plan to help reduce our “Prime Age Employment Gap,” or (PAEG). The Distressed Area Recompete Pilot Program (Recompete Pilot Program) aims to alleviate persistent economic distress and support long-term, comprehensive economic development and job creation in places with a high prime-age (25 to 54 years) employment gap. The program uses PAEG as an indicator of economic distress because it accounts for prime-age workers who have stopped looking for jobs and left the labor force, as well as those who are currently looking for jobs and are unemployed.

Thank You

As I recently completed my first month here at Greater Grays Harbor, Inc., I would like to say thank you to all who have reached out to offer congratulations, and to help. I have heard from many former CEOs of Greater Grays Harbor, Inc, as well as several local and regional elected officials. This has me and our staff so excited to see what we can accomplish together for the betterment of Grays Harbor County.

Warm Regards,
