The County’s clinics provide cardiology, allergy, dermatology, pulmonary, nephrology, endoscope, oncology and pain care. Patients needing more specialized care are transported by ambulance or life flight to hospitals in either Olympia or Seattle. There are more than 500 long-term nursing care beds available throughout the County. The two major medical facilities in Grays Harbor are Harbor Regional Health and Summit Pacific Medical Center.
Harbor Regional Health (HRH) healthcare team consists of physicians, nurses, other professionals, and students of the health sciences. These professionals have provided the needed diagnostic treatment and patient care services of the highest standards for more than 50 years. When thinking about quality and safety, patients should feel safe knowing that HRH is Joint Commission accredited. This national accreditation agency conducts three and four-day, unannounced surveys inspecting hundreds of quality, safety and administrative standards of care.
HRH offers both same-day and inpatient services. Their expert medical staff provides comprehensive access to numerous surgical specialties, including ear, nose and throat; general; gynecologic; ophthalmologic; endoscopic; orthopedic; urologic; podiatry; and dental. HRH has four fully equipped surgical suites, plus additional endoscopic and minor procedure rooms on its East Campus. Coverage is provided by experienced surgical and anesthesia staff 24 hours a day.
HRH also has a blood draw lab that provides general clinical and anatomic pathology services through the laboratory, accredited by the College of American Pathologists. Located just off the hospital’s main lobby and on the first floor of the East Campus, they provide a convenient location and convenient hours to their patients.
Working in partnership with RehabVisions, HRH provides occupational therapy, physical therapy, speech and language pathology services to patients across Grays Harbor. They provide effective and professional services to all residents in the County both in the Aberdeen as well as at the outpatient clinics in Westport.
The second major medical facility in Grays Harbor is Summit Pacific Medical Center, a vibrant level IV Critical Access Hospital and network of primary care clinics. Summit Pacific’s passion is providing exceptional healthcare to the community. Their newest facility, opened in Elma in 2013, provides state-of-the-art medical care in a healing, spa-like environment with an emphasis on quality, access, and compassion. Summit Pacific takes pride in their low emergency department wait times and the ability to give patients access to a provider quickly.
Summit Pacific offers a 24-hour emergency department and inpatient hospital services, the County’s only urgent care clinic that’s open seven days a week, three primary care clinics, full service laboratory and diagnostic imaging services, a skilled nursing and rehabilitation program as well as physical, occupational and speech therapy, a virtual care clinic accessible 24/7 and much more.
One of Summit Pacific’s vital functions for rural East Grays Harbor County is to provide patient stabilization and life support to critically injured patients and those suffering from possible stroke or heart attack. Being able to stop at Summit Pacific in an emergency has saved many lives over the years.
All three of Summit Pacific Medical Center’s primary care clinics have received the highest level of recognition for their patient-centered care from the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA). The clinics, including Summit Pacific Healthcare Clinic, McCleary Healthcare Clinic, and Elma Family Medicine, have each been recognized as Patient-Centered Medical Homes for their commitment to providing coordinated, team-based, personalized care.
In early 2017, Summit Pacific broke ground and began construction of a new $25 million, three-story, 60,000 square foot Wellness Center. This new facility provides additional primary care providers, outpatient therapy services, 3-D mammography and DXA scanning, a healthy choices café and cooking classes and much more.
