Each quarter the Greater Grays Harbor, Inc. (GGHI) Ambassador Team and staff are responsible for awarding a local business/non-profit with Member of the Quarter, an honor that comes with great pride amongst the many past winners. For Q3 of 2024, Summit Pacific Medical Center (SPMC) was chosen to be the recipient and were presented with their plaque during a ceremony on December 17th, 2024.
This public hospital district operates a Critical Access Hospital with a level IV trauma designation, three rural healthcare clinics and an urgent care clinic open seven days a week. SPMC’s vision is that “Through Summit Care, we will build the healthiest community in the Nation.”
SPMC has been in operation in Grays Harbor for 125 years and was formerly known as Mark Reed Hospital in McCleary, WA. To meet the needs of a growing community and with the advancements in technology, district leadership began planning for the construction of a new facility. This new facility not only met the needs of today’s population but was built to serve the community for years to come. Construction began in 2011 and the district opened the doors to Summit Pacific Medical Center in February of 2013. Growth continued with the opening of the McCleary Healthcare Clinic in 2016 followed by the Summit Pacific Wellness Center which opened in 2019. More history of SPMC can be found here.
GGHI is proud to have SPMC as a valued and involved member for over seven years. SPMC and Foundation representatives have not only frequently attended GGHI’s monthly Business After Hours, but also recently played host to the premier business networking event in Grays Harbor. SPMC employees are also often found at GGHI’s monthly Business Forum Lunches as well as have shown their support for the organization by sitting on the GGHI Board of Directors.
SPMC and the Foundation have supported not only GGHI, but also United Way of Grays Harbor, local schools, Food Ball, food and clothing banks, Washington Business Week, McCleary Bear Festival, plus many more organizations throughout the community. SPMC and Foundation also have employees that participate in Rotary and the Montesano Moose Club. Throughout the year, SPMC hosts many exciting and unique events encouraging healthy lifestyles including their Peak Health Wellness Fair and 5k Family Fun Run and Walk, indoor rock-climbing sessions, mobile blood drives, quit smoking programs, and free community education events on a variety of topics.
When asking the SPMC staff what their favorite part of doing business in Grays Harbor is, the resounding answer was community development. “Helping improve the quality and well-being of our community members and citizens. Helping improve the health and wellness of all citizens within Grays Harbor County. Helping support and foster a support system for other businesses and supporting longevity of businesses within our community.”
Congratulations again to Summit Pacific Medical Center for being awarded Member of the Quarter, our community is a much better place because of your mission, vision, and core values!
