February 2019 – Pacific Mountain Workforce Development recently announced the Future of Work Employee Development Program. The program provides funding to companies within the Pac5 region (Grays Harbor, Pacific, Lewis, Thurston, and Mason counties) to train workers, allowing them to transition into higher wage positions. Employers can apply for up to $15,000 per year to upskill their workforce, and submissions are now being accepted.

The program is designed for employees to acquire new skills that move them into higher skilled and higher wage jobs in the company, thus allowing the company to backfill that position with a job seeker. This should lead to improved local employment opportunities and increased competitiveness of the company.

Interested employers are invited to send a submission memo to Michele Winn at the Thurston Chamber. (mwinn@thurstonchamber.com.) Submission should include the following information:
• Company Name
• Company Contact (Name, Title, Phone, Email)
• Description of Need
• Overview of Training Program (Description, Timeline, # of Employees)
• Training Provider
• Partners Involved

Greater Grays Harbor, Inc is available to assist employers through the submission process. Please contact Grant Jones for more information (gjones@graysharbor.org.)
