Sharing stories of success…
This month I’ve been reflecting on how the communities in our region work together and communicate. GGHI is frequently privileged enough to hear what is happening in each of our communities and is impressed with what we are seeing. We work hard to tell the stories in our newsletters and media channels, but sometimes that doesn’t reflect the true accomplishment of what is happening. There should be great enthusiasm about the work of our neighbors and their commitment to always moving the needle forward.
One of those great stories is the success of Westport and how they are preparing for growth. Next month Showcase Grays Harbor will bring over a hundred business and community leaders to Westport to discover what is making the area grow and thrive.
Last week I was able to visit Westport and met with many of our host sites. The talent and commitment from our partners in the area is inspiring. All the organizations you will visit oh Showcase have a long history of working together and are nothing short of a dream team. U.S. Coast Guard Commander Gary Clark, South Beach Historical Society Director John Shaw, Westport Marina manager Molly Bold, VFW Post Commander Hall, and his wife Sally – all of them have shown up with a huge commitment to their community and will share that during Showcase Grays Harbor. Additional stops are still in the making and we’ll be updating our social media pages and event page with more information as they are confirmed.
Showcase is a true celebration of Grays Harbor and tells the story of our neighbors and their commitment to the future of our region. Registrations for this behind-the-scenes tour end on August 24th at noon, so make sure to secure your spots and sponsorships by then. You can register directly and buy sponsorships at the following link.
Also, on the topic of spending time together and getting to know our fellow members, we want to remind you about the new format for our Member Appreciation BBQ on August 24th. I for one always like a party and a good time, and we’ve changed up our annual event to create more time to socialize and visit. This year we will be taking over GGHI Member, Red Cedar in Hoquiam’s Vasa Hall from 3-5pm. The traditional BBQ fare will be available as will refreshments, lawn games, outdoor seating, and a no-host bar. Bring your co-workers and professional colleagues and enjoy an afternoon of connecting. This event is 21+, exclusive to GGHI members and does require advance registration. You can register in advance and learn more about the event here.
There are great things happening in Grays Harbor and we encourage you to take a moment and discover those accomplishments and celebrate. Recognizing successes can inspire us all to keep working hard on our collective future.
